Archar air field (Bulgarian: Арчар) was an airfield 125 kilometers north of Sofia.
The airfield was built by the Bulgarian Socialist government, presumably in the 1970s. It was used for agricultural activities, a.k.a. 'cropdusting'.
It consisted of a small runway and a small platform to the south of the runway.
No photos of the airfield while in use have been located
The airfield fell into disuse after Eastern Block countries faced severe economic challenges after the Cold War ended. In aerial photography from 2005 and2014 grass and other weeds can be seen growing in cracks in the runway and over the platform.
The airfield appeared recognisable, but in a bad shape in aerial photography in 2005. The platform to the south is almost fully overgrown with weeds (Google Earth).
The airfield appeared more or less unchanged in aerial photography in 2014 (Google Earth)
