Carcitella airfield was a dispersal airfield 18 kilometers east of Marsala, Sicily.
The presence of this landing ground was known to the Allies before the invasion of Sicily, as indicated in the campaign maps of the“WWII-1943-RAF-Mediterranean-Report” (R.A.F. Mediterranean review no. 4). There is, however, no available record of air units stationed on this landing ground, even though it is fair to assume that it was extensively used to disperse and conceal concentration of forces of various air units in periods of sustained activity. 


On 13 July 1943, Ninth Air Force (Northwest African Air Force, or NAAF) made a daytime attack on Enna, Trapani-Milo, Carcitella airfield, Randazzo and other targets of opportunity with B-17's, B-25's, B-26's and fighters.
