Air field Kottenhain (german: Flughafen Kottenhain-Lotschen, also known as Feldflugplatz Blankenhain) was an airfield 30kilometers/18 miles southeast of Erfurt, Thuringia, Germany.
The airfield was built ca. 1940, after the Luftwaffe obtained permission to construct drainage on a terrain intended for use as an Einsatzhafen.
Not much can be found on line about the use of the airfield during World War II.

No photos of the airfield while in use have been located

After the war the airfield was taken over by the Soviet Forces and rebuilt to serve as a Feldflugplatz (wartime emergency airfield).
They renamed it to Blankenhain however.
Although military terrain, agricultural aircraft were also permitted to use the facility.
Its military use ended with the reunification of Germany in 1990 and the airfield was returned to agricultural use.
Today it is only aviation use is by the local model flying club (photos).
The almost 3 kilometer long runway is easily recognisable from aerial photography, such as Google Earth.
